The trail proceeded from Settler's Bay to Yentna Station Roadhouse on the Big Bend of the Yentna River. Contestants were required to overnight at Yentna Station and return to Settler's Bay on Sunday. With an additional loop of trail added near Yentna Station, the length was increased to 140 miles. Race Marshal Rome Gilman
