JR Iditarod 2011 Knik Lake start, and the original Iditarod Trail, Temperatures were relatively mild, in the med teens. Trail conditions were hard and fast this year, checkpoints on the way out were Burma road, Susitna river, Eagle Song at Trail lake, and Yentna Roadhouse, using about 6 miles of the Aurora Dog Mushers Club track brought the halfway distance to 74.5 miles. Yentna Roadhouse is the halfway checkpoint and the mandatory layover with time adjustment. The Mushers camping out and care for their dogs and themselves without any outside help. Checkpoints on the way back were Eagle Song at Trail lake, Susitna river, Old hunter trail and Finish at the Willow Community Center, and were the Awards Banquet was held. Our total trail distance was measured by GPS, 74.5 miles out and 75.5 miles back, total of 150 miles. rolex replica
