In 1978 there were a Jr. Edition of the Race and a Sr. Edition of the Race. This represents the Jr. Edition of 1978.The trail for the Junior Divsion was from Knik Lake to Nine Mile Hill and return for a total of 18 miles. Teams were limited in size to four to six dogs. Race Marshal for the Junior Divsion was Dave Olson of Knik. (Race Marshal for the Jr Iditarod® is always an adult.)
