February 23 & 24, 1997 - 20th Anniversary Race
The trail was originally to start at Lake Lucille in Wasilla, but due to warm temperatures and overflow on the lake, it was decided that the race would start from and finish at the Aurora Race Track in the Big Lake area. Trail length was shortened by this change to approximately 130 miles with soft trails in areas and temperatures in the high twenties to middle forties. The turn around and layover point was again Yentna Station Roadhouse on the Big Bend of the Yentna River. Race Marshall - Julia Flodin
