Merissa Osmar

Ninilchik, AK, USA

Merissa, 15, was born and raised in Alaska and says she has been mushing “all my life.” She says, “I began mushing when I was very young. I grew up racing with my dad, Tim Osmar, and grand dad, Dean Osmar. I love to mush. It’s in my blood and I see myself doing it for along time with my dad.” Merissa finished fourth in last year’s Jr. Iditarod. A sophomore at Skyview High School, she participates in soccer and says her hobbies include skiing, snowboarding and snowmachining. After graduation she plans to go to college and become a veterinarian.
